enjoying the season you're in


I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Being content. It’s such an underrated state in our generation. Everything about the world we live in today is designed to make us feel discontent with the way our life is right now. This is the underlying agenda of all advertising… To make you feel DISCONTENT with the way things are so that you will DO something (whatever the advertiser wants you to do) to make you feel CONTENT.

The problem with this kind of living is that we end up never actually being CONTENT. We lose the joy of the moment because we are always looking ahead to the next season, the next big thing, a change in circumstance to bring us CONTENTMENT.

Paul says in this passage of scripture “I have learned the SECRET of being content in any and every situation.” So basically he is saying… whatever the season, whatever the circumstance, whatever is going on in my life right now I have learnt the secret to having JOY the season that I am in.

He is CONTENT… and listen to His “SECRET” weapon for contentment… it has nothing to do with the exterior circumstances changing and everything to do with an internal strengthening. “I can do ALL THINGS through Him who gives me strength.” Paul knew the “SECRET” to contentment was receiving STRENGTH from God in every situation.

There is a supernatural strengthening available for you today. Don’t buy into the lie that you need more stuff or a change in external things in order for you to be happy. JOY is internal, not External and it’s not circumstantial. As you understand that He is ALL THAT YOU NEED for ALL THINGS then your need for the ALL THINGS to change in order for you to be CONTENT diminishes. The secret to enjoying the season that you're in lies in knowing the ONE that’s in you and receiving His strength in every season. “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
